Packaging Analysis

This design was made and developed by Jacob Skarin it is a intricate design that is all about the wow factor the outside of the packaging is a dull Flat grey but as the package is opened up you can see the CAD designed football cover a well designed CD holder that just has the opposite in Aesthetics to the outside which brings about this wow factor in the difference in the design.

The Bands name is really self-explanatory as in where they got their name from which was from the famous magician Houdini. I believe that the album cover reflects the theme of magic, there is also a Picture of Houdini himself they also give the consumer the opportunity to get involved in the action as there is a padlock  on the package that is easy to open, therefore the user feel what it is like to be a Magician. The colours Red and Black with small hints of Green are the classic colours that reflect Magicans as they are seen as dark and mysterious Characters at times. As the packaging is opened their is a CD holder in the shape of a Letter this isanother item that relates closely to Magic; as you flip over this letter Holder you see a small viewpoint that shows the CD this is a Representation as the trick is relieve " Now you see it now you don't" their is also a little pocket to keep your Lock Subsequently to using the CD. I believe that the the Packaging works well and is very engaging as the Red on the Black background tends to draw you closer the theme matches what they are trying to sell there has been alot of work and thought put into the design, it is well Structured and could open up the minds of other consumers to buy there product because of the work done to the packaging.

Swizzle stick really personalized this Packaging its not an idea that you see on the shelve on a daily basis. As a consumer this is automatically put on the spotlight when seen on the shelve, as there are these well presented Laminated Cd cases with the Artist's picture, Name, Logo etc. on the front cover and there is this packaging that actually looks like a Postal order and thats the Key the Package looks like it came in the Post personally for you; if you are a new time listener of fan of the Music or this is your first time being approached by their music you are most likely gonna be intrigued by the the way the package is put together and as a result you may Buy this album. In my opinion if I saw this on a music shelf I would most likely buy it because of how personal the Package looks. The Package is held together by a string so to open it you feel special as a consumer; its like opening a present which is a one of a kind experience. To sum up I believe that the message behind the One of a kind CD packaging is that their is a Personal and One of a Kind type of music at the core or the CD.

The Slogan on the front cover says it all "UFO's and the men who fly them!" this shows what the artist feel about their Music they feel Unique they feel like they are not from this universe. Naturally seeing this or hearing this the consumer is going to at least think about buying this Product as the artist has so much confidence in themselves and there abilities some may see it as Cocky, some may see it as Confidence either way they will be tempted to listen the music.

This Packaging screams Hip-Hop from the Front Cover with the Boom Box; this one item is such a big Thing when it comes to Symbolizing hip hop and hip hop culture and how it has evolved. as the package is opened up you see some of the Heavyweights such as Notorious  B.I.G Tupac etc. there is also a walkthrough of a Breakdancing Move. This helps the artist to bring the fans closer to the music and it also gives them a blast from the past, gives them new music and Old school stuff they can relate too. This music would be mainly for the older hip hop fans but there is a mutual exchange as listening to this the older fans will appreciate newer stuff and see where the culture came from where as the newer fans will appreciate the route that the genre of music has taken and see how far it has came.

the Vonnegut Dollshouse was designed by Jeffery Harrison of Rethink Communications. The design looks very aesthetically pleasing. the reminder after looking at it is that it is like a Happy meal From McDonalds and the CD is the "Toy". The Target Audience for this album will be a Young one because thats what it will attract due to the Playhouse look it has. The packaging in my opinion will cost a lot and find it hard to fill up shelves as it is so big, I don't agree with this package as it will cost the company more and it will be very hard to market.
